 The
Appleton Area School District (AASD) has a rich, 157-year
history of educational excellence, coupled with a commitment to
continue to improve our ability to meet the educational needs
of our present and future students. The AASD strives to
address the needs of all learners and provide graduating students
with the skills and knowledge to successfully pursue higher
education essential for their chosen career paths.
A district the size of
Appleton relies on many attributes to maintain and to improve
the quality of educational programs. A supportive community, successful business
partnerships, a highly qualified staff, and a dedicated Board of
Education all play an essential role in educating today’s
students and tomorrow’s leaders, employees, and citizens. It is through collaborative efforts of the community that
we continue to grow as an organization and meet the needs of our
students. Please consider joining us in achieving this

During this period of tight
budgets, it is more important than ever that the AASD work to
stretch and prioritize existing resources, identify alternative
resources, and develop strategies to improve student learning.
At the present time, the District is strategically working to
address several challenges. Closing the Achievement Gap,
using technology as an instructional and management tool,
analyzing student performance data, establishing high schools of
the future, and supporting the 'Birth to 5' needs of our future
kindergarten students are all areas the District has targeted
for improvement. While these are some of the challenges we
face today, it is clearly the collaborative effort of working
with staff, parents, and community members that will allow us to be
successful in addressing these new challenges.
As superintendent, providing
leadership and support to the AASD goal that places the needs
of our students first is both professionally and personally
rewarding.
