Leadership and Service For All

Trustworthiness, Loyalty and Citizenship

The goal of the Appleton Career Academy is to provide
students with sound decision making strategies for their
future career choices. What better way to exercise
these decision making strategies but through experiential
learning and service to others. Students in the
academy will have opportunities to experience and demonstrate
the principles of leadership while serving others.

Students can:

  • Commit to a group effort by participating in DECA,
    HOSA, Design Club or Human Service Club
  • Give back to their community
  • Practice habits for life and CAREER success
  • Practice leadership principles in school and in the
    community
  • Practice communication skills in a professional setting
  • Invest in the process of life long learning

 

ACA Leadership Courses

ACA Adventure Education Leadership (.5 credit)

This course focuses on leadership skills including: group dynamics, group development, leadership styles, decision making skills, safety, and risk management. Students will become proficient at belay skills, knots, and climbing skills. At the conclusion of the course, students will be able to assist the Appleton Area School District adventure team.

ACA Leadership (.5 credit)

This course will focus on developing habits for teens to live by. Course work will include personal goal setting and responsibility for success, in addiction to listening and cooperative learning skills. Students will also learn to work together and have an "everyone canwin" attitude. Opportunities will be provided for students to organize, lead, and work in teams through various projects.
