Breakfast Program
In addition to the lunch program, Columbus offers breakfast each day for those students whose parents would like them to eat breakfast at school.  The doors for breakfast open at 7:55 a.m. each day and breakfast is served in the gym.  The students go back outside when they finish breakfast.  The full cost each day is $1.00, or $.30 for reduced cost.  For those who qualify for free or reduced lunch, the guidelines are the same and no additional paperwork needs to be filled out.  We hope that many of our students take advantage of this opportunity as it’s often said:  BREAKFAST IS THE MOST IMPORTANT MEAL OF THE DAY!

Business Partnership with Macy's

Columbus School and Macy’s are active school/business partners.  Volunteers from Macy’s provide support for the breakfast program and enrichment activities.

The Columbus/Boys & Girls Club Neighborhood Learning Center

The Columbus/Boys & Girls Club Neighborhood Learning Center staff is committed to providing quality after school programming to all Columbus students.  Club hours are Monday through Friday from 3:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.,  Students are welcome to attend the After School Program as often, or as little as they want, and stay for any amount of time desired. Club membership of $15 per student and $35 per family is required to attend the After School Program.  If the cost is a problem, please contact the Site Coordinator.  This membership also allows the student to attend the downtown Boys and Girls Club during the school year and summer.  As a requirement for membership, parents are asked to attend an orientation with their child.  The After School Program is comprised of five core program areas in which students have the opportunity to participate. Examples of available program offerings through the five core program areas include:

The After School Program is also in need of parents/guardians involvement.   Parents/guardians are needed to volunteer during the program, be involved in planning special events, and/or to help chaperone field trips.  Parents/guardians play a major role in the development of their child; therefore, we encourage you to be involved in your child’s life as much as you can.  Please contact Sam Hutchinson at Columbus Elementary School for more information on how you can be more involved with the After School Program or to learn more about a program or the services we provide.
