Breakfast Program
Breakfast is offered at Foster School everyday beginning at 8:00 a.m. except when school is on a two-hour delay. A breakfast menu is posted in the front window in the office. Students using the breakfast program may enter the building at 8:00 a.m. when the breakfast bell rings and up until 8:20 a.m.
Lunch Procedures
Foster's lunch period is scheduled from 11:27 a.m. - 12:07 p.m. We use a "split" lunch period to alleviate overcrowding on the playground and in the lunch area. The K-3rd graders go outside first with the 4-6th graders eating lunch first. At approximately 11:45 a.m. the two groups change places with each other with the K-3rd graders eating lunch and the 4-6th graders out on the playground area.
To ensure the safety of all students, any child going home for lunch must have written permission and should sign-out in the office. When they return to school, they should remain on the playground until the bell rings.
Students staying at school for lunch may either bring a sack lunch or choose to eat hot lunch. Hot lunch menus are sent home on a monthly basis and tickets may be purchased on a daily or long-range basis. It is important to keep track of how many tickets your child (ren) has. Charging meals is discouraged. White or chocolate milk is also available to be purchased or your child may bring juice from home (soda is discouraged).
Families receiving Food Stamps or Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) may be eligible for free meals. Low-income families may also be eligible for free or reduced costs of meals. Application forms are sent home at the beginning of the school year. Forms are also available in the school office at any time throughout the year.
