Community Learning Center
Overview
The vision of the Appleton
Community Learning Center is to build a learning community where students
can prepare to become lifelong learners and experience success in a n
educational setting that addresses their needs while providing stimulation
and challenging coursework. ACLC embraces the philosophy that middle
school is not merely a continuation of elementary school, but rather a
unique entity with a mission of its own, and vies early adolescents as time
for exploration. ACLC is designed to serve at-risk children and their
families, who are interested in positive changes, in an atmosphere
that is sensitive and suited to the development of the students'
intellectual, physical, and social capabilities and develops strong
community connections.
ACLC Goals
-
Provide stimulation and challenging
coursework that prepares students to become lifelong learners in order
to.
-
Re-engage students to become active
learners.
-
Promote positive attitudes toward
self, school, family and community.
-
Develop positive social skills.
-
Change patterns of failure into
success.
-
Transition students to high school.
Enrollment
Students are referred for possible
enrollment through one of the four attendance area Appleton Area Middle
Schools: Einstein MS, Roosevelt MS, Wilson MS, Madison MS. Once
referred staff from ACLC contact the student and their parents/guardians to
schedule an enrollment interview. During the enrollment interview the
family learns more in-depth information about the school, tours the school
and and if they decide to enroll their student completes the necessary
enrollment paperwork.
