Welcome to the Appleton Area School District, an inclusive district nestled in the Fox Valley on the north end of Lake Winnebago.
We're excited to invite your family to join one of our many diverse school options, from 4K sites across our community, to our welcoming neighborhood schools throughout Appleton, to our 14 different, free, public charter schools with emphases on arts, STEM education, and college and career preparedness. Whatever you're looking for, we have it here in Appleton.
Wisconsin’s public school Out-of-District Open Enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend a school district other than the one in which they live. Students, from 4K to grade 12, may apply. The Open Enrollment regular application period for the upcoming school year is open through April 30, 2024.

Please note that not all AASD schools are open for open enrollment purposes for the 2024-25 school year.
Our recently passed nearly $130 million referendum shows our community’s commitment to education. Our current and future students and their families will benefit every day from our community’s investment.
Referendum Benefits Starting in Fall 2023
- Reduced class sizes in our Kindergarten-2nd grade classrooms to 20-1 began in fall 2023
- Updated Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) areas, specialized STEM staff, and modernized middle schools for our 6th-8th-grade students in fall 2024
- A brand new elementary school located on the north side of Appleton, opening in fall 2025
- Upgrades at each elementary school including a STEM space, specialized STEM staff, improved security, and updating of available spaces
- New additions and complete renovations at our high schools

When new families move into the Appleton Area School District, we ask that you enroll your students as soon as possible. Enrollment can be completed
online or in-person at our
Welcome Center, located 2701 North Oneida Street, Suite C3, Appleton, WI. The Welcome Center has access to interpreters and can assist with questions you may have about enrollment in the Appleton Area School District.
We encourage you to consult the
School Boundary Map to determine which neighborhood school your student will attend. If you'd like to confirm which school your student(s) will attend, please call (920) 852-5308.
Enrollment Services is available Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Fridays until 1:00 p.m.
