East High School Marching Band to play at National Memorial Day Parade in D.C.
Posted on 02/08/2016
The Appleton East Marching Band will represent Wisconsin at the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C.

U.S. Rep. Reid Ribble nominated the band for the honor. The parade will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the bombings at Pearl Harbor. The band will play "On Wisconsin" and "The Battle Hymn of the Republic."

A total of 210 people will travel by coach bus on May 26 and return to Appleton on June 1. The group will tour all of the memorials, Arlington National Cemetery, a few of the Smithsonian Institution museums and more.

In commemoration of this special event, each state tried to have representation. The band students at East are honored by this nomination and selection, and would like to participate fully.

Currently, over 200 students are participating, and working to fund their trip. The cost of the trip is $850 for each individual, an amount that is beyond many of our families.
