Attention:  Our APM Snowshoeing and Cross-Country Ski Event is scheduled for Saturday February 18th 1-4 pm.  Also, APM student artwork is currently displayed at Harmony Cafe for your enjoyment during the month of February.

Our Mission:

To create a Prepared Environment incorporating hands-on, concrete educational materials in a specified, orderly arrangement where each child can develop his or her unique capabilities and discover his or her full potential by allowing each child to direct his or her learning time and pace under the guidance of the teacher.

To promote independence, responsibility and leadership as well as respect, cooperation, and community in a classroom spanning three grade levels.

To build understanding through the study of Spanish and the arts.

To encourage the desire for lifelong learning.

To provide a school where children do not even realize how much they are learning!

Why choose Montessori?

  • Supportive, respectful community atmosphere in classrooms and throughout our school.

  • Subjects are taught as interconnected, not in disconnected separate segments.

  • Physical and emotional well-being of students is partnered with academic learning.

  • Students learn for mastery of concepts, not just to test well.

Each of APM’s Highly Qualified Teachers is both DPI Licensed and Montessori Certified.

APM students have many co- and extra-curricular opportunities available as a part of the Johnston/Montessori Community, including Band, Strings, Choir, Art Club, Drama Club, Intramural Sports, Chess and Games Club.
