AASD Receives Grant for Future High School Career Exploration Centers
Posted on 01/18/2018

The Appleton Area School District (AASD) is thrilled to receive a $30,000 grant from the Appleton Education Foundation (AEF) to design and implement our high school  Classroom to Career Exploration Centers.

AEF’s two-year commitment directs $10,000 each to East, North, and West high schools for the development of these Career Exploration Centers. The Centers will be the central location for virtual tours of local and national businesses, business presentations, career networking, co-teaching, mentorship and coaching, internships, Youth Apprenticeship, and more.

These opportunities for our students will be encouraged by their Academic and Career Planning process. Both business representatives and parents will have the opportunity to shape and become involved in the on-going activities of the Centers. The Centers will be accessible and engaging for ALL students with exposure to multiple career pathways to prosperity.

The Centers will be instrumental in achieving the District's goal to strengthen opportunities for students to connect with local businesses, to raise student awareness of career opportunities, and to graduate prepared students with confident post-secondary plans.

AEF joins other contributors including Guardian Life Insurance, Great Northern Corporation, and Spectrum. The Appleton Area School District continues to seek business partners as we work to design and implement the Centers at all three AASD high schools.

Our business partners will be collaborating with the district to provide hands-on, interactive Classroom to Career activities that will support a student’s career pathway and post-secondary goals.
