Board Proclaims "Advocate for Kids in the Appleton Area Day"
Posted on 04/24/2019

The Appleton Area School District (AASD) Board of Education will have representation at the Joint Finance Committee’s final public hearing on the proposed 2019-21 state budget on Wednesday, April 24 at the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay to express areas of concern in Public Education and with the 2019-2021 State of Wisconsin Biennial Budget.

They will address specific areas of concern as follows:

  • a need for a predictable, sustainable funding model
  • an increase in the Special Education funding
  • a weighted student funding model that would account for differences in costs to meet student needs;
  • voucher transparency and accountability
  • continuing the conversation regarding the recommendations contained in the No Time to Lose report

A letter signed by all AASD Board of Education members outlining these concerns will be shared with members of the Joint Committee on Finance. Read the full letter here.

The AASD Board of Education is also proclaiming April 24, 2019, as Advocate for Kids in the Appleton Area Day. Read the full proclamation here.

They urge all citizens and stakeholders to support the future of our children by attending the Joint Finance Committee hearing in Green Bay and/or contacting our Governor and Legislators to advocate for the aforementioned areas of need for all children in the Appleton Area School District.
