Posted on 04/23/2019
The Appleton Area School District is proud to welcome our newest school board member, Deb Truyman. Along with being a member of the board, she will serve on the Business Services and Personnel Services Committees.

Please read the introduction below to learn more about what she hopes to achieve through her membership in the Board of Education.

Welcome Deb!

Message from Board Member Deb Truyman:

As a former educator, Deb is both excited and honored to have been elected to a position on the Appleton School Board.

Deb is a native of the Fox Valley, growing up in Little Chute before moving to Appleton with her husband and children. She graduated from St. Norbert College with a degree in education and went on to earn licensure as a Reading Specialist and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Curriculum.

With over 20 years teaching experience in public schools and presently having five grandchildren in the AASD, she feels that this new phase in her life represents a continuation of her commitment to quality education.

“I’m so honored to have been elected to the AASD Board of Education and am excited to be joining an outstanding team of board members and administrators. My interest in serving on the school board is to continue my passion of ensuring that every child has access to a quality public education- academic, social and emotional.

I believe that the district leadership team values the opinions of parents and community members and wants their input. My hope is that I can be a voice for these groups but to also bring more people into the conversation about the future of education in our community. I’m looking forward to touring schools, visiting classrooms and speaking with students and staff.

If you have an event or a meeting you’d like me to attend, or have stories to share or questions to ask, please let me know! You can find me on Facebook. Thank you for your support.”
