Appleton Area School District families,

We hope you are having a wonderful summer, and enjoying time with your family! While we are still many weeks from the first day of school, we have some important information and back-to-school reminders to share.

We also want to remind our families of some important dates coming up:

24-25 Registration, Fees, Immunizations

Registration is now open for the upcoming school year! As we eagerly prepare to welcome students back to our classrooms, we invite parents and guardians to complete the registration process for a smooth start to the academic year. Click here for information on student registration, completion of the Meal Benefits Application, payment of fees, and information regarding immunizations.

Meet and Greet Events

Date and time information for Meet and Greet events can be found on each school website under Our School and then Annual Student Registration. 4K Meet and Greet events for community sites take place the fourth week of August. This is an opportunity for families to tour their 4K site, meet their child’s teacher, and drop off school supplies.

4K Meet and Greet events for sites located at school sites take place in elementary schools as described below.

Elementary Meet and Greet events usually take place the week before the first day of school and are an opportunity for families to meet their child’s teacher, principal, and other staff members, as well as drop off school supplies.

Middle and high school Meet and Greet events are different at each school. Some schools hold their event in late August, and others in early September. Parents and guardians are encouraged to tour the school, follow along with their student’s schedule, and meet staff, teachers, and administrators.

Regular Education Transportation

If you have any questions regarding your student's regular education transportation or if transportation needs have changed, please contact the Regular Education Transportation Office at (920) 852-5341, option 1, or email transportation@aasd.k12.wi.us. Routing information will be available closer to the start of the school year.

When severe weather strikes and our schools are closed, our partners at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley and YMCA can help! Both programs offer care options for families on these days. From structured activities to nutritious meals, they provide a safe and nurturing environment for students when schools are closed due to severe weather or other unexpected situations. Attendance

Good attendance is vital to the academic success of every student. Please make sure your student arrives at school on time every day. Click here for more information on attendance.

Is Your Child Well Enough to Go to School?

It is not always easy to decide if your child is sick enough to stay home or well enough to be in school. Children who come to school are expected, with few exceptions, to participate fully in school activities. If your child has a medical concern in school, we will need to be able to reach you. Please make sure to notify the office of any work or phone number changes as they occur. Here are some guidelines that might help a parent/guardian decide if a student should stay home from school or not.

Student And School Safety

Weather events, fire, accidents, intruders, and other threats to student safety are scenarios that are planned and trained for by students, teachers, staff, and administration. The AASD utilizes Standard Response Protocol (SRP), developed by the i love u guys Foundation, to respond to security incidents and emergencies. Standard Response Protocol offers clear, distinct, common language among first responders, students, and staff.

The SRP Parent Handout explains the five actions and the responsibilities of teachers and students. Each protocol has specific staff and student actions that are unique to the action ("Hold", "Secure," "Lockdown," "Evacuate," and "Shelter"). In the event of an emergency, the action and appropriate direction will be announced. Students and staff will be trained and the school will drill these actions over the course of the school year.
