The Appleton Area School District will commemorate Columbus Elementary School, Appleton’s oldest school (est. 1892), as it transitions to serving new educational purposes for the 2025-2026 school year at a ceremony open to the public on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
The event will include a brief program, public tours, community art activities, and displays from the school’s archives.
PRESENTATION AT 5:00 P.M.: Join us on the grounds of Columbus Elementary for speakers and student performances
TOURS BEGIN AT 5:30 P.M.: Self-guided tours of Columbus Elementary will be open to the public from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
REFRESHMENTS AND DISPLAYS: Archives, memorabilia, and historical artifacts detailing the history of the school and building will be on display. Light refreshments will be available.
