Summer Shakespeare Theatre Selected to Pilot High School Edition of & Juliet
Summer Shakespeare Theatre, a program of the Fox Valley Summer School Consortium, has been selected by Music Theatre International (MTI) as one of only three schools in the nation to pilot the high school edition of the hit Broadway musical & Juliet.
Created by Emmy Award-winning writer David West Read (Schitt's Creek), & Juliet reimagines one of the world's most famous love stories by asking a simple question: What if Juliet chose a new beginning instead of a tragic ending?
This energetic and empowering musical follows Juliet as she takes control of her own story, embarking on an adventure filled with friendship, self-discovery, and second chances. The show features a soundtrack packed with chart-topping hits from legendary songwriter and producer Max Martin, including "Since U Been Gone," "Roar," "...Baby One More Time," "Larger Than Life," "That's the Way It Is," and "Can't Stop the Feeling!"
After premiering in London's West End and making its Broadway debut in 2022, & Juliet earned nine Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical. The production continues to captivate audiences on Broadway and on tour across North America.
