CO-CURRICULAR/EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS

The Board of Education encourages a varied co-curricular/extracurricular program at all levels in all schools. Principals may permit sponsorship of activities as appropriate to the level of and maturity of the students in the schools ensuring that there is an approved adult supervisor/monitor in charge for each co-curricular/extracurricular activity. Co-curricular/extracurricular activities requiring expenditure from the General Fund shall require Board of Education approval.

Students are eligible to participate in co-curricular/extracurricular activities in their home schools. Exceptions may be made when a home school does not offer an activity.

Student participation in inter-school co-curricular/extracurricular activities shall be only between schools of the same level in concurrence with Board Policy and rules of the association that governs the activities.

The Board encourages the full participation of elementary and middle school students in extracurricular and recreational programs and activities. For purposes of Board policy, “full participation” means fair and equal participation to the extent that the budget, facilities, or type of activity allows.
