FULL-TIME STUDENT
The Appleton Area School District defines a full-time student as one who attends the full day that is prescribed for each school level. Secondary school students will be enrolled in classes and/or Board approved programs at sites other than the school building.
Students may be in attendance for less than the entire school day if they are enrolled in an alternative educational program approved by the Board and supported by School District funds. Such students may include but are not limited to: children at risk, school-age parents, and homebound students.
A student in the Appleton Area School District is considered to be a full-time student if he/she:
- Is an elementary, middle, or high school student scheduled in classes for the entire school day.
- Has been evaluated and has a prescribed Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
- Is participating in an alternative education program with curriculum modifications approved by parent/guardian and School District officials. Alternative education programs for at-risk students must provide the equivalence of three hours daily.
- Is involved in a work-based learning experience program or approved work-study assignment such as, but not limited to, youth apprenticeships, internships, and cooperative vocational education programs.
- Is a student who attends an institution of higher education for concurrent high school and college or vocational credit.
- Is a resident student attending public school in another school district under the full-time public school open enrollment law.
