EVALUATION OF SUPPORT STAFF

This policy applies to the evaluation of District-employed support staff personnel, which shall be understood to include (among other positions) all licensed special education paraprofessionals.

The primary purpose of employee evaluation is to provide for continuous improvement in the quality of the services that are delivered to the District’s students and to the broader school community.

The School Board delegates to the District Administrator and his/her administrative or supervisory designee(s) the responsibility for defining and implementing a program of evaluation consistent with the Board’s Operational Expectations and the individual’s job description for the support staff personnel covered by this policy. However, at a minimum, each support staff employee shall receive a written performance evaluation at least once every three years. The normal evaluation schedule applicable to any position may be adjusted in individual circumstances at the discretion of the District.

The District Administrator or his/her designee shall determine which individual(s) will have primary responsibility for conducting any formal, written evaluations of support staff personnel. Evaluator(s) may seek input and data from multiple sources, including both supervisors and non-supervisors, who are familiar with the employee’s performance.

The District Administrator shall further ensure that all new administrators, supervisors, and support staff employees are provided with an overview of the District’s evaluation program for the relevant position(s).
