INSURANCE MANAGEMENT

The Assistant Superintendent/Business and Personnel has responsibility for general supervision of the insurance program of the Board. This insurance is periodically reviewed to ascertain adequacy of coverage and of carriers. It is the intent of the Board to carry all insurance which is required by law, necessary for the efficient and safe operation of the schools, and which is provided for though negotiated agreements with the various bargaining agents. Insurance coverage carried by the Board includes the following:

Property and Other Protective Insurances will be the responsibility of the Assistant Superintendent/Business and Personnel.

  • Comprehensive General and Auto Liability
  • Building and Contents Property Coverage
  • Boiler and Machinery
  • Miscellaneous Property Floater (personal property of those in the employ of the Board is NOT covered by this policy)
  • Comprehensive, Catastrophe, Liability Insurance
  • Errors and Omissions Insurance
  • Employees Honesty Blanket Bond
  • Any contracted transportation used for school purposes must meet all of the insurance and safety requirements prescribed by statute for school buses.

Employee Benefit Insurances will be the responsibility of the Director of Human Resources.

Worker’s Compensation: (All accidents to school employees on school premises, no matter how slight, must be reported to the Business Office through the Assistant Superintendent/Business and Personnel immediately. Employees are covered under this insurance plan and must be reported by the employer directly to the Department of Workforce Development under penalty of fine.)

Group Health and Hospitalization Insurance: (The Board is self-insured for ambulance coverage with claims being presented directly to the Assistant Superintendent/Business and Personnel by the claimant.)
