Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct
Appleton Area School District Activities Program Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct
The parents and legal guardians of the student's name shall be required to follow the Code of Conduct set forth as follows.
-
I will not engage in unsportsmanlike conduct with any coach, parent, participant, official, or any other attendee.
- I will not engage in any behavior which would endanger the health, safety, or well-being of any coach, parent, player, participant, official, or any other attendee.
- I will not engage in the use of profanity.
- I will treat any coach, parent, participant, official, or any other attendee with respect at all times regardless of sex, creed, color, national origin, or ability.
- I will not engage in verbal or physical threats or abuse aimed at any coach, parent, participant, official, or any other attendee.
- I will not shout instructions, coach, or direct players in competition from the stands or sidelines.
- I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my child ahead of any personal desire to win and remember that the game is for the student-athletes and not the adults.
- I realize that my child’s playing time is determined by his/her awareness of the game, his/her ability, his/her attendance at practices/team events, his/her maturity, and the high school coach's evaluation.
- I will conduct myself in a manner as to bring positive feedback to our student-athletes, our school, and our community. I will refrain from undermining or spreading ill will by passing gossip, rumors, and innuendos which could destroy team morale and cohesiveness.
- I promise to help my student-athlete enjoy the athletic experience by doing whatever I can, such as attending as many events as possible, being a respectful spectator, and/or volunteering as needed to assist the event to run smoothly.
- I will be responsible for the behavior of all of those attending an event on my student-athlete's behalf.
- I will support the 24-hour rule: Parents are not permitted to discuss athletic concerns with a coach for at least 24 hours after a concern arises at a game, practice, or other instance. I will schedule an appointment with the head coach if a concern arises. Concerns should be related to my own student-athlete's performance. It is never acceptable for a parent to attempt to discuss another student-athlete.
I understand that any violation of this Code of Conduct may be cause for dismissal, suspension, or permanent expulsion from future events. I hereby pledge to provide positive support, care, and encouragement for my student-athletes participating in activity programs by following this Parent/Legal Guardian Code of Conduct.
