The process for nonresident parents/guardians to submit open enrollment applications takes place in February (between the first Monday in February and 4:00 p.m. on the last weekday in April). Absolutely no late applications will be accepted.

Open Enrollment for the 2026-27 school year is from Monday, February 2, 2026, through 4:00 pm on Friday, April 30, 2026.

Notification

Parents will be notified of the status of their Open Enrollment request via US mail by June 5, 2026.

Additional Information

  • Once accepted as an open-enrolled student, the student may transition to the same middle and high school as their attendance area peers. If an elementary or middle school student transfers to a middle or high school that transitions to more than one school, the student will be afforded a choice of schools.
  • There is no need to reapply if your student is already open-enrolled into the Appleton Area School District.

  • Transportation for open-enrolled students is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.

Alternative Open Enrollment

An alternative application allows students to apply for open enrollment during the current school year or outside of the regular application period. This is available starting in July.
