School of Choice (In District)
The annual School of Choice Open enrollment process allows students to attend a non-Charter school outside of their neighborhood school attendance area, while remaining within the Appleton Area School District.
Application Window
The School of Choice application for the upcoming school year is available from February 1 to February 28 each year. Applications submitted during this window receive priority consideration.
Families who wish to apply after the open enrollment window must contact AASD Enrollment Services at (920) 852-5308.
Applications will continue to be accepted for the 2025–26 school year for:

New students to the district

Students with extenuating circumstances
Notification
Families will be notified of the status of their 2026-2027 school-year School of Choice request via U.S. mail by April 10, 2026.
Additional Information
- School of Choice approvals are not guaranteed and are based on space availability by school, grade level, and program. Once approved, families do not need to reapply in future years; students will transition with their peers.
- Priority is given to:
- Students who apply during the annual February application window
- Siblings of students already attending the requested school

Transportation is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.

Closed for Open Enrollment for the 2026-27 school year
- All special education programs and related services are closed (no space available) with the exception of Special Physical Education.
