Thank You School Crossing Guards!

Thank You School Crossing Guards!
Posted on 01/14/2022
Each year, one week in January is dedicated to recognizing adult school crossing guards. In 2022, January 10 -14 has been designated Adult School Crossing Guard Recognition Week.

Each day, dedicated adult crossing guards in our city show up at their assigned crossings to assist students in their journeys to or from school. One of our dedicated guards has been serving Appleton students for 41 years and many others have served our schools for over 20 years.  We honor our adult crossing guards for their commitment to child pedestrian safety during School Crossing Guard Recognition Week.

Adult school crossing guards play a critical role in keeping students safe as they walk to and from school each day.

Crossing guards are present each day school is in session, and more importantly, they are present when weather is inclement, visibility is reduced, traffic is hurried and pedestrians are most at risk.

The public is encouraged to take a moment during this week to find a way to thank the local crossing guards for keeping students safe.

In March, we are planning a thank you breakfast for the 28 crossing guards and 5 alternates that serve AASD students.
