Community Schools

Engage students. Empower families. Enhance neighborhoods.

Community Schools in the AASD

The Appleton Area School District is enhancing its efforts to strengthen connections between schools and the community. Each Community School features a central hub, the Community Resource Center (CRC), staffed by a dedicated Community Schools Resource Coordinator (CSRC).

The CRC serves as a vital resource for students, staff, families, and the surrounding neighborhood, offering access to services and support. The CSRC plays a key role in collaborating with community agencies and organizations to address the unique needs of the district's diverse populations, fostering stronger partnerships and a thriving community.

Through intentional connections, resources, and services, we will enhance student learning, strengthen families, and support healthy neighborhoods by reducing systemic barriers.

More Opportunities for Engagement

A core part of the Community School model is strong student, family, and community involvement. Families are encouraged to connect with the school, participate in activities, and take part in opportunities that help build a vibrant, supportive school community.

A Community of Support

A Community School is here to support all students and families. Many schools offer on-site resources such as hygiene closets and basic needs supplies, as well as strong connections to local organizations. If the school cannot directly meet a need, staff can help connect families to trusted community partners who can.
