RISE Program

The RISE Program is a special education program serving students with disabilities in grades K–8. It is located within the Columbus Elementary building, where it provides a supportive and inclusive learning environment for participating students.

Mission

The mission of RISE is to provide a small, flexible learning environment that re-engages students in learning and supports a successful transition back to their neighborhood schools.

We believe every child deserves to learn in a safe, healthy, and supportive setting. Because every student learns differently—and life circumstances can affect that experience—we focus on providing the care, compassion, and structure students need to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

How RISE Supports Students

RISE is designed around flexibility and student-centered practices that meet learners where they are each day:

  • Lower student-to-staff ratio for personalized attention.

  • Direct classroom instruction with adaptive and alternative teaching methods to meet students where they are each day.

  • Flexible schedules without rigid bells, allowing learning to adjust to student needs.

  • Social-Emotional Learning and Trauma-Informed Care embedded throughout academics.

  • In-class support to complete schoolwork during the day, reducing stress and homework challenges.

  • Consistent staffing to minimize transitions and ease anxiety.

  • Specialized classroom spaces designed with student needs in mind, including secured entry, multiple classrooms, and private bathroom access.

Beyond academic growth, RISE helps students build practical, real-world skills to support their success in everyday life.
