BHM Celebration

Join us on Saturday, February 4, 2023, from 12 PM-4 PM at Appleton East High School to help celebrate Black culture and history at this FREE student-led community event!

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley’s Appleton East STAR team is working collaboratively with Appleton Area School District staff, People of Progression, and Opportunity Youth Initiative to empower a group of 10-12 students to plan and implement this community event celebrating Black history and Black culture.

This event will include entertainment, contests, games, and prizes, along with the opportunity to receive family portraits by John Nance. Guest speaker, Marvin Jones will be speaking about the importance of Black history and Black excellence in America, and how this connects to the world we live in today along with a look ahead.

There will also be a number of student speakers and performances including poetry, song, and jazz ensemble. Community resources will also be present at this event.

Additional supporters for this event include African Heritage Inc., Appleton Education Foundation, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.
