Pending school board approval on Monday, February 26, Mr. Joseph Bernhardt is set to become the new Principal of Sandy Slope Elementary within the Appleton Area School District.
When Sandy Slope Elementary School opens in the fall of 2025, it will be our first new school in 30 years, with the last being North High School in 1995, and our first new elementary school in nearly 35 years. Our district places immense value on neighborhood elementary schools, and we are thrilled to add a school to this part of our community.

With a robust background in education, Mr. Bernhardt began his career teaching algebra and general math at Oak Creek High School before moving on to Lincoln Elementary School in the School District of Cudahy. He has also served in various roles at Seymour Middle School and Einstein Middle School, where he has been an Associate Principal and Activities Director for the past 11 years.
Beyond his professional life, Mr. Bernhardt enjoys running, martial arts, and spending quality time with his family, particularly boating up north.
